The European Union fined Apple €1.8 billion after the Spotify case?

Apple doesn't seem to be able to breathe a sigh of relief even though it has opened up the possibility of sideloading iPhones in Europe. The ecosystem once guarded by Apple has been forced open by the EU Commission.

However, things didn't end there. Apple will now have to pay a huge antitrust fine. Apple has of course appealed, but what actually happened to cause Apple to get such a large fine?

Apple was fined 1.8 billion euros or IDR 30 trillion by the European Union

As usual, the fine imposed by Apple is very large because it is still suspected of carrying out monopolistic practices. According to the European Union, Apple has imposed restrictions on app developers to provide information about sideloading and alternative payments.

European Union trade policymakers consider this information restriction to be a prohibited practice. Apple has reportedly blocked Swedish streaming service Spotify from notifying its users about third-party payments.

As a result, the European Commission imposed a fine of 1.8 billion euros or Rp. 30 trillion if transferred. The European Union even described Apple's behavior as an anti-directive policy.

Long implications of the Apple and Spotify cases

According to the European Commission, what Apple violated is somewhat similar to the unfair trade laws that Europe has. This commission even figures into many of the deal points that Apple demands from developers, such as:

 Notify iOS users via the app about subscription prices available outside the Apple ecosystem.

 Inform iOS users about the price differences between payments in the Apple ecosystem and outside the ecosystem.

 Include an in-app link that directs to the developer's website to make an alternative subscription purchase.

 The app developer also does not allow new users to send replacement prices via email after creating an account.

According to the European Commission, this fine of 1.8 billion euros is considered sufficient as a deterrent measure. Anything smaller than that will look like a parking ticket to Apple. What do you think of this brutal person?
